Marietta was one of a few cities that Gen. Sherman spared on his march to the sea. As the Cobb County seat, the city square provides an attractive park with fountains and old buildings and shops. Only about a five minute drive to I-75, Marietta is a prime location for anyone who enjoys quiet suburban life with quick access to fully urbanized areas. There are many beautiful historic homes, and Marietta boasts four separate historic districts. For the past few years, renovations have been bringing new life into the downtown area.
